Ben Webster: (jazz)

Ben Webster
Benjamin Francis Webster (Kansas City, Missouri, USA, March 27, 1909 – Amsterdam, The Netherlands, September 20, 1973) was an influential American jazz tenor saxophonist. Ben Webster, a.k.a. “The Brute” or “Frog”, was considered one of the three most important “swing tenors” along with Coleman Hawkins (his main influence) and Lester Young .

Known affectionately as “The Brute”, he had a tough, raspy, and brutal tone on stomps (with his own distinctive growls), yet on ballads he played with warmth and sentiment.

Stylistically he was also indebted to alto star Johnny Hodges , who, he said, taught him to play his instrument.

  1. Is there any karaoke web site I can choose the singer or song to sing for FREE?.

  2. The Songstation is a nice karaoke machine, which works great!. Consider buying it.

  3. Are you sure you need a costume? When I hear the words “fancy dress” I don’t think of wings, I think of nice clothing like gowns and suits. Can you ask what other people are wearing to get a better idea? You wouldn’t want to show up in a costume to find that everyone else is just dressed up in nice clothing.

  4. I want to be able to make some songs from scratch on the computer. What’s a good PC program for this? I’d like to have drum beats, some chord progressions, etc., and hopefully also the ability to make midi’s..

  5. whats the best way to write guitar music using midi hardware?
